Magnificent crystals and stones from around the world meet contemporary works of art in a new exhibition at the heart of the Musée de Minéralogie Mines Paris collection, from October 23 to December 14, 2024.
With their marvellous reflections and magical appearance, there’s no doubt that crystals inspire hundreds of artists around the world. From October 23 to December 14, 2024, the Musée de Minéralogie Mines Paris – PSL and the Fonds de Dotation Verrecchia are opening an exhibition in which rock andcontemporary art come together in an exceptional collection of minerals, housed in a historic 19th-century setting.
Caroline Besse, Camille Corleone, Audrey Guimard, Anna Ternon, Chloé Valorso, Marine Zonca and seven other artists take an artistic look at the mineral kingdom. These winners of the Matière(s) Grant from the Verrecchia Endowment Fund have studied the colors, shapes and textures of hundreds of minerals, to make their modern creations resonate with these treasures that come to us from the earth.
During your visit, you’ll discover the links between the museum’s azurites, pyrites, agates, hematites, limestones and meteorites, and these works, including rock-like paintings and astonishing experiments. Don’t miss the day of November 16, when you can also enjoy a round-table discussion and artistic performances!
