Stocks were trading below the session’s best levels on Thursday afternoon, as bond yields jumped and investors looked forward to Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s Jackson Hole speech set for Friday morning.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was off about 188 points, or 0.5%, trading near 40,703.
The S&P 500 index was down 0.6%, or 33 points, at around 5,587.
The Nasdaq Composite was 180 points lower, or 1%, near 17,738, down from a session high of 18,017.69, according to FactSet.
