Stock Market LIVE on Wednesday, August 7, 2024: Indian bourses saw a positive open on Wednesday, with BSE Sensex surging 963 points to 79,556, while the Nifty50 rallied 1.23 per cent or 294 points to 24,286 levels.
In line with the benchmarks, the broader markets also showed strength, with the MidCap index rising 1.37 per cent and the SmallCap index surging by 1.01 per cent.
On NSE, ONGC, Coal India, Hero MotoCorp and M&M led the gains while SBI Life, Apollo Hospitals and Nestle India slipped in trade.
Similarly on the BSE Tata Motors, Infosys and M&M surged up to 2 per cent, followed by HCL Tech, JSW Steel, Adani Ports and Ultra Tech Cement.
Sectorally all indices were trading in green with Nifty Realty, Nifty Metal, Nifty Media, Nifty IT leading the charts.
