Chipmakers led the decline in tech, following a Wall Street Journal report that SoftBank and OpenAI’s ambitious $500 billion AI project has encountered setbacks, prompting a scale-down of near-term plans. Broadcom fell more than 3%, while Nvidia dropped over 2%. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing also declined nearly 2%.
