CHESHIRE, Conn. (WTNH) — Authorities have recovered $63,500 for a person in Cheshire who lost tens of thousands to a cryptocurrency scam that has left multiple victims in its wake.
The money was returned on Friday, according to Connecticut State Police. The victim first reported in April that they’d lost more than $68,000 of cryptocurrency in a phishing scheme.
Detectives tracked the money through blockchain analysis, according to state police. When found, the suspect’s cryptocurrency wallet still had most of the funds.
The scammer has victimized multiple people throughout the U.S., according to state police.
