The concert has been set up in order to raise awareness that “this live music venue is at risk of closure and that it needs the support of the community to ensure it’s future as the prime live music venue space in the Victoria Quarter’.
The show has been organised by Robert Rundle – who is from West Kirby – and Dean Saunders from Wallasey – who have recently moved to New Brighton with “the hope of being part of a thriving musical and creative community”.
“In creating this event we are hoping to appeal to any future prospective buyer of the venue and for them to recognise the importance of the gallery and venue space.
“We are also hoping to reignite the dynamic energy of live music that was thriving at the Anti-Supermarket venue.
“We are appealing to the future owner of Oakland to maintain the venue’s security as a cultural hub and as a grassroots live music and arts space.”
Tickets for Save New Brighton Concert at Oakland Gallery on Victoria Road in New Brighton on Friday and Saturday (July 25 and 26) are £10 on the door
