Phillip Shabazz, a poet, and artist in residence, visited Wilkes Art Gallery on Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22. He conducted free poetry workshops (“The Powers of Poetry”) and hosted a poetry open mic night which was held on Friday evening at the gallery on Ward Nichols Way/C Street in Downtown North Wilkesboro. Other poets included Abigal Brooks, Tara Hawkins, and Nicole DeBruijn. The 45th Northwest Artists Exhibition will open at the Wilkes Art Gallery on July 19.
