Film screenings, museums and pop-up shops galore are in store for this month’s Kentuck Art Night in historic downtown Northport the evening of April 4.
From 5 to 8 p.m. many artists will be showcasing their work across the Kentuck grounds as part of the organization’s monthly art night.
One thing you’ll see? An artistic effort by several women called Repurposed uses items and traditionally feminine imagery focused on a woman’s role as a caretaker and turns them into art. Artists include Penny Dobson, Elayne Goodman, Kerry Leasure, Debra Mager, Diana Vest, Laura Walker and Betsy Youngquist.
There will also be a screening of “Lakebed, Women in Film Talk” with Nora Stone and live music from The Jules Jazz Band.
Starting at 5:45 p.m., the art gallery shop will feature artist Joni Esser-Stuart.
For the crafty people, the clay studio will have drop-in hours for $20. That gets you 2 pounds of clay and glazes to work with, and you can leave what you make at Kentuck for finishing in the kiln before picking up your work at a later date.
Here’s what else will be available:
- Pop-up shops
- Free arts and crafts for kids
- Extended gallery hours
- Cob oven pizza
- Open artists’ studios
Art night is open to the public, free and family friendly.
Kentuck is also hosting an art market At the Mildred Westervelt Warner Transportation Museum April 20. Artists interested in showcasing their work must sign up before April 7 at 5 p.m. If you’re an artist, you can apply to show your stuff right here.
